Chadwicks to Leave Standish and retirement village to come in its place

So it has been reported that Noel Chadwicks butchers and restaurant will be closing and leaving Standish. In it's place will be a Retirement Village.

So there are mixed emotions online from people and will a retirement village not be good for Standish? Every person will have their own view. It wasn't long ago they got planning permission for a supermarket on the site. That obviously has gone out the window  but a retirement village next to a pub which is a negative but close the centre is a positive.

So I looked further into the company that wants to do the retirement village and what I will ay any old folk out there don't be getting too excited. Here is a link to another of their sites in Preston. £185,000 for a 1 bedroom apartment and £260,000 for a 2 bedroom apartment. Now just because these are the prices in Preston doesn't mean that this will be the price in Standish - they could be more or less but it is a good indicated and wow you could buy a house for that or a bungalow, although not many of them around granted.

I  am not sure what you think but certainly on the high end and I doubt many pensioners would be able to afford these kind of prices.
